O Child of this longest journey,
are you not anxious because you’re tired?
Are you not tired because you’ve run far?
Do you not fear what will catch you if you stop?

Take my hand, Child.
Let us stop together.
Will you turn, with me,
to face your demon?

Did no one do this for you long ago,
when beasts beneath your bed
vexed your slumber?
You deserved that comfort then, and now again.

Oh, yes, I know it’s true.
Real demons you have seen.
Real brutes have visited, seen or not.
You have known suffering.

So first, you must notice you’re been running,
and feel how tired you are.
You must want to know you don’t deserve to run,
that stopping is your birthright.

Then together, we can turn,
to see what this demon’s colors are,
what it wants of you,
and how to help you both find peace.
